Hello! My name is Miranda Colvin, but some of my favorite people call me Miss Miranda. I am so excited to be teaching 1st grade at High Tech Elementary North County! As a resident of the High Tech High Teaching Residency Program, I am currently working towards my Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning.
My passion for teaching began when I would "pretend play" as a teacher for my little brother. In 2nd grade, my teacher became my idol, and I knew I wanted to be like her when I grew up. Then, after taking AP psychology at my high school, I decided I wanted to dive into this as my major. In 2021, I graduated from The University of Redlands with a B.A. in Psychology. My interest in child development, abnormal child psychology, and working with students who had special needs led me to consider many career options. Before coming to High Tech, I worked as a Student Support Assistant in the special education classroom at Community Montessori. I knew then, that I loved teaching and wanted to have my own inclusive classroom to support students with unique needs. The foundations of my classroom culture are rooted in love, kindness, collaboration, and community. As a teacher, my goal is to foster a lifelong love of learning in my students. Outside of work, I enjoy learning new things, exploring outdoors, and spending time with friends and family! |
